Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - About 200 runners from Moldova and Romania will participate in the RUBICON 2024 Ultramarathon and will cover a distance of 478 km between Chisinau and Bucharest.

The event is organized by the Sports Association Sporter, with the support of the Moldova’s Education and Research Ministry (MEC), in partnership with the National Agency for Sport of Romania, on 22-24 March.

The race will include more stages, both day- and night-time, with distances comprised from 7 and 15 km. The start will be given in Chisinau, on the Great National Assembly Square on 22 March at 9:00 and the competition will end in Bucharest on 24 March.

„The start and finish were established in the proximity of two emblematic points: Triumph Arch from Chisinau and the one from Bucharest – historical and cultural benchmarks which represent, at the same time, symbols of unity and solidarity. It is for the first time when the two countries organize a race in cross-border regime,’’ the state secretary at MEC, Sergiu Gurin, said.

The route is to be covered in 52 hours and will go through Chisinau, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and four districts of Moldova (Ialoveni, Cimislia, Taraclia and Cahul), five counties from Romania (Galati, Braila, Buzau, Ialomita and Ilfov), and well as through Bucharest.
