Moldovan-Romanian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation convened in Bucharest

Chisinau, April 9 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-Romanian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation convened in Bucharest. Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba said that Romania has been and is a firm supporter of the Republic of Moldova, including in our European path, and the strategic cooperation between the two countries has a huge potential for development and expansion.

The meeting's agenda included several issues, reflecting the diversity and complexity of economic and trade relations between Moldova and Romania, including trade, investment, promotion of business environment, cooperation projects, sustainable development.

Alaiba stressed that the results of the meeting contribute to the further deepening of the Moldovan-Romanian partnership, with great prospects for cooperation and significant development potential. 

The Romanian Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism said that it appreciates the reforming steps taken by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation of the Republic of Moldova in the European path of our country and considers that the tangible results of their implementation can constitute the necessary guarantees for increasing the economic attractiveness for companies and firms from EU Member States. 

At the end of the meeting, the Protocol of the 12th Session of the Moldovan-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a framework for economic cooperation between the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation of the Republic of Moldova were signed.

Romania ranks first among the main investors in the Republic of Moldova, with equity investments of 6.75 billion Moldovan lei. Moldova's foreign trade with Romania amounted to $2.7 billion in 2023.
