Chisinau, April 9 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's place is in the European Union and Germany is with you in carrying out reforms. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock made the statement during a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi, who is on a working visit to Berlin.

The German official stressed that Moldova is part of the big European family: "Moldova's accession to the EU is not just a geopolitical necessity or a consequence of Russia's war of aggression. Despite a difficult context, you have initiated extremely important reforms. We are convinced that we will support bilateral relations through the Partnership Platform. This will be essential to support you unconditionally in your European path and reform process", said Annalena Baerbock.

For his part, Popsoi spoke of Moldova's progress towards European integration and thanked Germany for its constant support in this process. "Our country has the ambition to become a member state of the European Union because it guarantees peace, tranquility and prosperity to our country. We also discussed the preparation of the Ministerial Conference of the Partnership Platform for Moldova, which will take place this autumn in Chisinau", said Popsoi.

Officials also discussed security challenges in the region, in particular the war in Ukraine. Popsoi condemned Russia's aggression and reaffirmed our country's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with the principles of international law.

Popsoi is on a working visit to Berlin today at the invitation of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
