Chişinău, 22 apr. /MOLDPRES/. The EU programme for education, training, youth and sport, Erasmus+, was presented at the Vasil Levski Youth Centre in Taraclia, a town in the south of Moldova inhabited predominantly by ethnic Bulgarians, BTA informs.

The discussion, with elements of training to it, was led by members of the MilleniuM Training and Development Institute, based in Moldova's capital Chisinau. The attending young people of Taraclia learned that Erasmus+ is aimed at promoting transnational mobility in education and encouraging cooperation between organizations and politicians to raise the quality of education, facilitate high achievement, support inclusion and equality and boost creativity and innovation in the field of education, occupational training, youth and sport.

The guests explained who can participate in the programme, and how. They said the EU covers all related costs, provided that certain conditions are met. The presentation was followed by a session of questions and answers.

The Erasmus programme was launched in 1987. Initially, it was intended to facilitate closer cooperation among institutions of higher learning across Europe. With time, the programme was expanded, and now it is called Erasmus+ and combines various EU schemes for transnational cooperation. Its first funding cycle under the new name lasted from 2014 to 2020. The second cycle is between 2021 and 2027.
