PHOTO // Mural inspired by Moldovan hora tradition unveiled in Italian town
A mural inspired by the Moldovan hora dance was unveiled in the town of Aielli, in Italy’s Abruzzo region, as part of the Borgo Universo cultural project, which is transforming the town into an open-air museum. HORA artwork was created by Moldovan artist Radu Dumbrava, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy, local authorities, and Moldovan and Italian communities.
The mural is inspired by the traditional hora, a symbol of unity, closeness, and the joy of being together. Through this work, the Republic of Moldova has joined the Borgo Universo initiative, known for combining urban art with astronomy and community identity.
Aielli is home to more than 60 works of art, including murals, sculptures, and installations created by Italian and international artists.
The inauguration event also featured culinary and wine-related activities. Guests had the opportunity to discover the Moldovan wine “Univers,” produced by Mileștii Mici winery, as well as traditional dishes prepared by the Le Tartufaie restaurant.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy, the project aims to promote Moldovan culture, traditions, and hospitality, while also contributing to cultural dialogue between the two communities.
The mural was supported by the Municipality and community of Aielli, the Mileștii Mici winery, the National Office of Vine and Wine, the Cipasso and Le Tartufaie restaurants, as well as other partners and entrepreneurs involved in the project.
