Moldelectrica enterprise to be reorganized
The state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica will be reorganized into a Joint Stock Company. The reorganization plan was approved by an order signed by Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu. The document sets out all the required legal and accounting procedures, the transfer of all assets, and the transfer of personnel. The process is expected to be completed by April 2027.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the reorganization aims to continue the modernization of corporate governance, increase operational efficiency, and integrate the national energy infrastructure into the European electricity market.
The reorganization process involves appointing a professional Board of Directors, composed mainly of independent members. The reorganization seeks to create a high-performance governance model that meets the requirements for synchronization with the European energy market, thereby supporting the security of electricity supply, cross-border cooperation in energy transmission infrastructure, and the integration of the Republic of Moldova into European market mechanisms.
Moldelectrica acts as the operator of the electricity transmission system and is responsible for the centralized operational management of the national power system. In 2023, Moldelectrica was certified by ANRE under the Independent System Operator model.
The obligation to unbundle the electricity transmission system operator is a requirement laid down both in the European Union’s Third Energy Package and in the commitments undertaken by the Government of the Republic of Moldova upon acceding to the Treaty establishing the Energy Community.
