Acting PM conveys message on World NGO Day
Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi conveyed a message today on World NGO Day, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The message reads:
"Every year, on 27 February the World NGO Day is marked all over the world. More than 90 countries on six continents celebrate on this day the importance of non-governmental organizations and the value of the people.
NGOs are non-profit groups based on the involvement of citizens who want an open, prosperous and inclusive society. Globally, there are about 10 million such non-governmental organizations.
A special day has been dedicated to these associations since 2010, aimed at motivating people to become more actively involved in non-governmental organizations and to encourage more active cooperation between NGOs and the public or private sector. On this occasion, associations, foundations and organizations share their knowledge and experience, discussing the role of NGOs and the impact of the policies.
Including in the Republic of Moldova, since 1990 many non-profit organizations have been registered in various fields - justice, media, culture, human rights, social inclusion, etc., and their upward evolution is a barometer for change and progress in the country. Undoubtedly, the role of civil society in the continuous development of the Republic of Moldova and the alignment of all social, political and economic fields according to European standards and practices is a major one.
On this important day for civil society, I want to thank and congratulate all the non-profit organizations in our country and their members, who get involved and generate change where needed.
