
Committees of Parliaments of Chisinau, Bucharest expressed support for organizing joint meeting of two legislatures
Chisinau, May 21 / MOLDPRES /-Joint statement of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration and the Committee on rules and immunities of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Committee on Foreign Policy and the Committee on rules, discipline, immunities and validations of the Romanian Senate was signed yesterday in Iasi, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The document welcomes the excellent dynamics of bilateral cooperation and expresses the determination of the parliamentary institutions in Chisinau and Bucharest to continue working in areas of mutual interest and in order to accelerate the process of European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
"Joining our efforts is a solid foundation for achieving the strategic priority objective of firm and irreversible connection of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, through Romania," the statement reads.
The MPs note the strong commitment of the Moldovan authorities to implement reforms in areas such as justice, fighting corruption, strengthening the rule of law, good governance and streamlining public administration, which are essential for the overall development of our country. as well as for advancing the European path. The deputies from Chisinau and Bucharest consider it opportune to implement the concept of common control at the border between the two states.
Parliamentarians are also deeply concerned about security developments in the region and condemn the Russian Federation's illegal, unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine. In this context, MEPs are concerned about the recent incidents in the Transnistrian region and welcome the wise, responsible and balanced manner in which the Chisinau authorities have approached the overall situation. At the same time, the document welcomes the exemplary way in which the Moldovan authorities, together with civil society and citizens, manage the large number of refugees in Ukraine. According to the document, the Republic of Moldova also reconfirms through these efforts that it is a state with a European vocation and that it naturally shares the values on which the European Union is founded.
The four parliamentary committees expressed their political support for organizing a joint meeting of the two parliaments in Chisinau and Bucharest in the coming period.
