Head of state visits eldest voter from Moldova
Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today visited Constantin Cojocari from the Sofia village, central Hancesti district, who is the eldest voter from Moldova. At his age of 105 years, Mr. Cojocari wanted to necessarily vote, even if this meant for him to make a trip to Chisinau, where he has residence visa, to take the certificate for right to vote, the presidential press service has reported.
President Maia Sandu said that everybody has been quite impressed by his example. She listened to the fascinating story of his life – about two deportations of his family, about how difficult it was when he returned home and many other difficulties through which he went.
„He told me how good managers were worst hit on the period of the totalitarian regime. But they resisted and continued to do good things, with love for the country and the fellows. Although he can no longer read and hears with more difficulty, he is well-informed about the situation in Moldova and in the world. He told me how concerned he is by the war in Ukraine and how much he wants to be peace. He said me that he had gone to vote as he wants to survive till the day when Moldova would be protected, in the European Union,’’ the Moldovan president said.
The head of state also said that we have the duty to preserve the freedom and peace in the country, for the sake of the Constantin Cojocari and his successors, who despite the tragedies through which they went, they remained worthy people, for the sake of all good managers, all those who love Moldova.
