Moldovan PM attends inauguration of monument to ruler Stephen the Great in Causeni
Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in the inauguration of a monument to ruler Stephen the Great in the south-eastern Causeni town. The PM congratulated the town’s residents on this initiative, meant to pay homage to the great ruler.
„As many as 520 years ago, Stephen the Great fought for us to have the lands protected and consolidated and our children to be able to be brought up, work and create families in a country where peace reigns,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The initiative on the monument’s construction is aimed at conserving the historical values and developing the cultural heritage. The project was possible also with the support of the Neamt County Council (Romania), which came up with its own contribution. The money, most of which earmarked from the district’s budget, was invested in works for the building of the pedestal, the paving, setting of street lamps, as well as in the rehabilitation of a segment of the bridge in the neighbourhood.
The 520th anniversary of the passing away of the great ruler of Moldova, Stephen the Great, will be marked on 2 July 2024.
