Moldovan president attends Ungheni City Day, on 560th anniversary
Chisinau, August 28 /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday, at the end of Independence Day, President Maia Sandu went to Ungheni, and with residents and guests of the city participated in the celebration of the 560th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the town, the presidential press service has reported.
"I congratulated Unghen residents and the city hall team for significant results in modernizing the locality and improving the living conditions of the residents. I appreciated the vision and managerial capabilities of the team, and the skill to develop a multitude of partnerships with the EU, with other development partners or regions and communities from other countries, which contributed to the modernization of the city", Maia Sandu said.
Ungheni experience is an example of development that deserves to be taken up by other localities in Moldova, because our country will be prosperous when every town and village is prosperous. At the same time, Maia Sandu greeted the representatives of several cities twinned with Ungheni - from Romania, such as Cluj, Iasi, Bistrița or Bucharest and from Georgia and Armenia.
"Ungheni city is closer to Europe not only geographically, but also in terms of appearance. Through regional development programs and the European Village Program, with the support of the EU and other development agencies, by supporting partnerships at community level, we will continue our efforts to modernize every locality in the country and raise the standard of living in every city and village ", Maia Sandu said.
