
Moldovans in Transnistria to participate in 1 November elections
Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/- The Bureau for Reintegration Policies that in 22 localities in the Security Zone, as well as in Chisinau and Balti, 42 polling stations will be opened for residents of the Transnistrian region holding identity documents of the Republic of Moldova and have the right to vote, in line with the decision of the Central Election Commission No4301 of 26 September 2020, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
Thus, the 247,609 voters residing in the localities on the left bank of the Dniester, Bender municipality and some localities of Causeni district will be able to exercise their right to vote.
Most polling stations will be opened in Rezina, Sănătăuca and Varnița localities, four each, in 11 localities two polling stations will be opened, and in 8 localities - one each.
The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission asked for the free movement of citizens of the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone, calling on the Commission co-heads, representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to help avoid restrictions and incidents, especially for the 1 November elections.
During the discussions held in the JCC for unusual situations, it was proposed to involve law enforcement bodies in interaction with military observers and representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to the JCC.
Tiraspol in the local media announced that it will allow the crossing of the administrative line by citizens who want to exercise their right to vote without imposing the obligation of self-isolation for 14 days or performing self-testing against the new coronavirus.
In this regard, the chief negotiator of the Republic of Moldova, Cristina Lesnic, addressed to the chief negotiator in Tiraspol a request on the elimination of restrictions related to free movement.
