Moldova denounces nine agreements with Commonwealth of Independent States

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today denounced nine agreements concluded on the platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).  

The documents regard the cooperation within the CIS member states in the defence sector, on issues of disarmament, providing the border guards’ troops with weapons and military technology, cooperation in the field of informative activities, on mutual support in case of accidents and other emergency situations at electric energy objects, on scientific and nuclear researches. Their denunciation was suggested by the Intelligence and Security Service, Defence Ministry, Interior Ministry and Education and Research Ministry.   

The denounced documents are: Agreement between the CIS member states on the Strategic Armed Forces; Agreement of the Council of the Heads of the CIS Member States on the Armed Forces and Border Guards’ Troops; Agreement on the creation of the joint consultative commission on issues of disarmament; Agreement on mutual assistance in case of accidents and other emergency situations at electric energy objects of the CIS member states; Agreement on the cooperation of the CIS member states during the evacuation of their citizens from third countries in the case occurring of emergency situations; Agreement on the principles of the providing of border guard troops with weapons, military technology and other material resources, organization of scientific research and experimental works of construction; Agreement on cooperation in the field of educating specialists of the anti-terror subdivisions in the education institutions of the competent bodies of the CIS member states; Agreement between Moldova and Russia for the cooperation between Moldova’s National Security Ministry and the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service in the field of informative activities; the Status of Nuclear Researches.       

According to the authors, the provisions of the concerned agreements are irrelevant, inopportune and do not fit the present realities and their denunciation will have no negative strategic or operational impact.
