Moldovan Socialists' candidate for Moldovan president's office accepts proposal by Maia Sandu. Electoral debates to take place without moderator
Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) for the Moldovan president’s office, Alexandr Stoianoglo, today accepted the proposal by the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, to participate in electoral debates without moderator.
Alexandr Stoianoglo stressed that he was prepared for a discussion according to the conditions indicated by Maia Sandu.
„Certainly, I accept your proposal and I am prepared for a discussion according to the conditions indicated by you. They are, undoubtedly, quite comfortable. As a compliment for the future, I was not the one to initiate the discussion on the unacceptability of certain moderators. I am happy, nevertheless, that you have found a solution to adjust your position. Thank you for this,’’ Alexandr Stoianoglo said.
Maia Sandu today invited Alexandr Stoianoglo to electoral debates without moderator. The meeting is to take place at the Palace of the Republic from the Moldovan capital on 27 October.
„Mrs. Stoianoglo, I wanted a debate about Moldova and the country’s fate. You transformed into a debate about the moderator. This is not what the Moldovans expect. The people want to see my plan and your plan for Moldova. We should remove the moderator from discussion. You are the counter-candidate; namely you must speak to the people,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Sandu suggested that 10 questions should by each candidate. ‘’Thus, on next Sunday, at 10 o’clock, I am waiting for you at the Palace of the Republic, where we will discuss without moderator – I will put you 10 questions and you will put be 10 questions. The people have the wisdom to decide by themselves what kind of president they want. Do not be afraid,’’ Maia Sandu also said.
Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo are to fight in the runoff of the presidential elections. The ballot is to take place two weeks after the date of the first round of the polls – on 3 November.
