
MAEIE: Egypt approved exit of limited number of foreign citizens from Gaza Strip
Chisinau, Nov. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Egypt has approved the exit of a limited number of foreign citizens from the Gaza Strip, mostly people in need of medical care. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) of Moldova made the statement today. It noted that the Moldovan authorities have provided the necessary lists to all parties involved and are interacting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt to ensure the safe evacuation of our citizens.
"MAEIE is monitoring the situation in the region permanently. We know that Egypt has approved the exit of a limited number of people from the Gaza Strip, mostly citizens who need medical care, so we are not talking about a mass evacuation. At this stage, no Moldovan citizen is injured, respectively citizens of the Republic of Moldova were not evacuated through this possibility", government spokesperson Daniel Vodă said.
The Ministry said that according to current data, it is expected that transit through the Rafah crossing point will initially be allowed for the personnel of international organizations and people in need of medical care.
According to official information, there are currently more than 7,000 foreign citizens in the Gaza Strip, and their evacuation will take place gradually.
