Moldovan parliament ratifies Optional Protocol to United Nations Convention
Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on a Communications Procedure.
The treaty establishes the international procedure of submitting complaints for the infringement of the rights of the child and the procedure of interstate communication and of investigating the serious and systemic infringements. Thus, children will be able to submit complaints directly to the UN Committee, if they consider that their rights were harmed and the issue was not solved nationally.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989 and Moldova ratified it in 1990.
