Number of soldiers in National Army to increase to 8,500
The number of soldiers in the National Army will increase to 8,500, up from the current 6,500. The measure is part of the Military Strategy 2025–2035, adopted by the Government in October last year. Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi made the statement before the cabinet meeting.
According to the official, the increase in the number of soldiers will be carried out gradually.
“The increase in the number of soldiers in the National Army is provided for in the Military Strategy, approved in October last year, and it is necessary in order to have a military structure capable of fulfilling its missions. The planned number is 8,500 soldiers and 2,000 civilians,” Nosatîi stated.
Currently, the National Army’s personnel consists of 6,500 soldiers and 2,000 civilians.
