Only 112 phone number to be called in emergency situations in Moldova as of 1 July
Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - The 112 Service has been put into industrial operation and, starting from today, people call only the 112 single phone number in emergency cases. The numbers 901, 902 and 903 were functional only till 30 June.
The 112 Service became operational starting from 29 March. A comprehensive process of migration of the present functionalities, integration of data and information systems towards the 112 Service started afterwards.
According to Prime Minister Pavel Filip, this Service brings us closer to the European Union. “The new system automated all processes through a last generation soft. Moldova is the second country to use this modern soft. The 112 service will allow managing much more complicated cases for interventions and will make possible for specialists to intervene quicker. Thus, the questioning time will be shortened thrice, from 2 minutes to 40 seconds. We have a good team and lives will be saved with the help of the Service,” the PM said.
In 2017, specialized services took over 2.7 million calls, by about ten per cent more than in 2016. After the 112 single European number for emergency calls had been activated, the numbers 901, 902 and 903 worked simultaneously till late June, when all calls were redirected to 112.
