Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - The National Association of Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM) launched the first mobile application Moldova Holiday, which presents a top 50 tourist attractions of the country, at a press conference today.

According to ANTRIM Director Natalia Turcanu, the application serves as a guide for foreign tourists who come to Moldova and willing to travel on their own.

"The application included the most famous wineries, cultural and architectural monuments, museums and monasteries of Moldova. One may find general information about destinations, their location on the map, with the possibility to plan a visit, establish and view the route, as well as other options", said Turcanu.

Tourism Agency Director Nicolae Platon said the application was necessary because "of the total number of tourists visiting Moldova, only 15 per cent travel through tour operators, the rest doing this on their own."

The Moldova Holiday mobile application may be downloaded to any smartphone for free. Creating the service cost about 6,000 dollars, with money provided by the United States Agency for International Development Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development II project (USAID CEED II).

Moldovan tourism accommodation units hosted around 90,000 tourists in 2014, mostly from Romania, Ukraine and Russia.
