Moldovan deputy prime minister refers upon intention to transform country into attractive investment platform

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, declared at a business breakfast with the Foreign Investors Association about the authorities’ intention to turn the Republic of Moldova into an attractive investment platform and a regional centre capable to deliver products and quality services both for domestic and foreign markets.

"The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is making every effort to attract investments in the Republic of Moldova, creating a favourable environment for investors' activity," said Minister Calmic. But today, the minister added, "We also need business support in promoting these policies, a wider openness in the process of identifying and solving the problems that arise in the process of carrying out investment or some other projects".

The of Foreign Investors’ Association (FIA) will continue to support the efforts of the authorities to create a friendly business environment for investors and welcomes their opening for discussion and exchange of views with the business community, said Alexander Koss, President of the Association.

The FIA members addressed a series of issues, the solution of which, in their view, would let the elimination of several barriers in the companies’ activity, facilitate their development, increase the volume of goods produced. Following this range of ideas, there were reviewed the issues related to land lease, management and consolidation, use of water resources, the 2.5 per cent luxury tax paid by mobile operators, waste collection and processing, salaries in envelope etc.
