Chisinau hosts national forum of Moldovan women entrepreneurs

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - Government’s Secretary General Lilia Palii today participated in the opening of the third issue of the National Women’s Forum titled, Women’s Entrepreneurship – Regional Development Potential. The event was held to back the development of women’s entrepreneurship and identify opportunities of involving women in Moldova’s social and economic life, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The government’s secretary general highlighted the importance to strengthen the dialogue between women in Moldova, in order to assess the constraints which affect women’s entrepreneurship and prospects in the business sector. “The today’s conference is important, as it will allow us fructify examples of successful women who do business with dedication and contribute to the country’s sustainable development. I am sure that women’s entrepreneurship is an instrument which will enable us together improving the living standards in Moldova,” Lilia Palii said.      

In the context, Palii referred to measures undertaken by the cabinet to create an attractive business environment, touching upon the reforms underway in the field, as well as to actions carried out to promote women’s entrepreneurship. At the same time, the government’s secretary general stressed that ensuring the gender equality was a basic priority for the authorities, being also one of the sustainable development goals that will be taken into account when working out Moldova 2030 development strategy.   

The participants in the event unveiled the findings of a survey on the needs of women entrepreneurs from Moldova and analyzed instruments of backing and developing women’s entrepreneurship in Moldova. Also, the women participating in the event benefited from an inspirational session on the balance between a successful career and family of a woman.  

The National Forum of Women from Moldova was organized by the National Women’s Platform from Moldova, in partnership with the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM).    

In 2017, the ODIMM portfolio was completed with two new programmes on support for business, meant exclusively for women: the national pilot programme Women in Business and the project, Business Academy for Women. Within these programmes, more than 500 women from all over Moldova benefited from consultative, education and financial assistance.
