Moldovan meteorologists forecast yellow code of strong wind, ice destruction

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) announced yellow code of wind intensifications by 30 January, and until 09 February, yellow code for ice destruction.

According to meteorologists’ info, there are expected wind extensions of northwestern winds on 30 – 31 January, up to 15 – 20 metres per second.

Also, as consequence of weather warming, on 30 January – 09 February, it is expected the ice destruction onto rivers and water basins of Moldova. "The ice is thin, fragile and soaked with water and it is dangerous to walk on it," said the SHS sources.

In this context, the general inspectorate for emergency situations (IGSU) warns population, especially parents with juvenile children and winter fishing enthusiasts, to be cautious and avoid walks on ice.

The weather conditions are potentially dangerous in the case of yellow code and forecasted meteorological phenomena (shifts, electric discharge, wind intensification, high or low temperatures, risk of flow increases and levels of rivers, etc.) are common for Moldova, but temporarily may become dangerous for certain socio – economic activities.
