Plan on organising events dedicated to Memory Day published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ – A provision of the Government on organisation of events on the Memory Day (02 March) was published today in the Official Journal of Moldova. On this day, there are commemorated those who died in armed conflict of 1992, defending the integrity and independence of Moldova and victims of that conflict.

According to the document, there will be carried out a complex of activities to immortalise the memory of those who fell into battle. Thus, there will be deposited flowers at the monument of the ruler Stefan cel Mare si Sfant and it will be organised a March of Memory on the streets of Chisinau. After that, it will be held a commemorative meeting to the memory of heroes fallen on battlefield and there will be installed commemorative plaques on some edifices in Moldova.

There will be organized educational and patriotic decades within educational institutions with participation of veterans dedicated to the heroes fallen in the fight for defending the integrity and independence of Moldova.

Also, there will be held sports competitions and tournaments on various sports in memory of fallen heroes. Similarly, on 02 March, the National Library (BNM) will host launching of book: Vesnicia clipelor de glorie (Eternity of glory moments) and it will be held a scientific conference: Anul 1992 – memorie si actualitate (Year 1992 – memory and actuality) in April.

The actions will be made from the local authorities’ budget.

According to the defence ministry’s public relations service, over 30,000 persons participated in the armed conflict on the Dniester river in 1991 – 1992. There died 300 soldiers and civilians, and more 3,500 were injured.
