High-tonnage vehicles' movement ceased on more road segments in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - The movement of high-tonnage transport means has been ceased on more road segments because of roads buried in snow.  

According to the National Patrol Inspectorate, it is about the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia) (M3 road, at the exit from the Vulcanesti town towards Giurgiulesti), UTA Gagauzia (R28 road, between Bugeac settlement and Chisinau city), Cimislia district (G123 road between the villages of Porumbrei and Valea Perjei), Cimislia town (M3 road Cetatea Alba Street), Cahul district (R34 road, Valeni village) and Anenii Noi district (R30 road, towards Causeni).

According to data from areas, at present, the traffic is taking place with difficulties. Heavy snowfall accompanied by wind is registered in the central and southern districts.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that, during the last hours, rescuers and firemen had carried out three operations of unlocking of transport means. Rescuers’ actions took place on the segment Vulcanesti-Burlaceni, Bulboaca settlement, Anenii Noi district and Fundul Galbenei from the Hancesti district. At the same time, the Border Police said that all border crossing points work as normal.     

At the same time, the Chisinau International Airport said that the air traffic was taking place in winter conditions. According to the airport’s representatives, all technology is involved in the process of clearing snow and they constantly intervene to ensure the best conditions for the carrying out of flights on the Chisinau Airport.   

The flights Chisinau-Bucharest and Bucharest-Chisinau, operated by the Tarom company, have been cancelled.  

Meteorologists for today announced Yellow Code of snowfall and glazed frost, valid for southern Moldova. Subsequently, the warning was extended for the central region too. Heavy snowfall of 7-15 litres/square metre in 12 hours is forecast for the concerned period.
