Moldovan-Bulgarian relations to be intensified - deputy premier says

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan-Bulgarian relations in the political, economic, educational and cultural fields will be boosted. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca made the statement today. The official paid a working visit to Sofia, Bulgaria, on 4-5 April.

The official said he had meetings with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Deputy Prime Ministers  Ekaterina Zaharieva and Tomislav Doncev, several Bulgarian MPs and other officials.

“The visit was paid at Mrs. Zaharieva’s invitation. We had productive discussions with the Bulgarian partners, and we have achieved very good results. The talks focused on three important topics: bilateral relations, Bulgarian community in Moldova and Bulgaria’s role in the European integration perspective of our country. Thus, we have set that the bilateral relations are based on trust and we have a great potential that needs to be used,” Leanca said.

He pointed out that during the talks, it was decided to boost the political dialogue through a lot of visits to Moldova, especially, Taraclia. “During the visits to Taraclia we are going to determine the problems the Bulgarian community is facing. I proposed to establish twinning relations between the Bulgarian communities in Taraclia and Bulgaria, to carry out joint activities and projects. Also, I asked help from Sofia to computerize the schools in this locality. An important topic was the study of the Romanian language by Bulgarians,” he said.

According to the official, another topic was the security situation in the region, the country’s neutrality and NATO membership. “During the talks, Radev congratulated us on the fact that we managed to achieve a string of reforms and urged us to continue the European path of the country. We have also established boosting economic relations, especially, in the south of the country. In this respect, the Bulgarian businessmen will pay a visit to our country in autumn, which we hope it will bring new projects,” he said.

Leanca had a working dinner with a group of Western ambassadors accredited to Sofia and an interview with the BNT channel.
