Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is interested in taking over Bulgaria’s experience in the education and training of national diplomatic staff, including based on the Diplomatic Institute from Sofia, which since the moment of its  foundation, has been the principal school of staff for the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi today made statements to this effect at a meeting with Director of the Diplomatic Institute from Bulgaria, Tanya Mihaylova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

According to Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, the experience of development partners in the professional training of diplomatic staff is very important for Moldova, especially now, when the country is getting more actively involved in different regional and international processes through world organizations and platforms. “Only having diplomats with a good professional training, based on the most modern international practices, one can successfully promote the national interests both in the bilateral relations with the partners and within different international organizations and forums. Proceeding from this desideratum, we are set, with the support of colleagues from other states, who have such an experience, as well as of various educational platforms with a background in the sector, to create this diplomatic potential in Moldova as well,” Minister Ulianovschi stressed.

Tanya Mihaylova welcomed MAEIE’s position, noting that the training of a professional diplomatic staff, able to promote the national interests at various levels, represented the basis of the success of a state’s foreign policy. ”Any state needs highly trained staff, both for the diplomatic service and for the public administration authorities in general, as only in this case, we can speak about the implementation of development policies and strategies, carried out by the authorities at different levels,” the director of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute said.

In the context, Tanya Mihaylova noted that the institution she represents was open for cooperation with MAEIE, willing also to put at the disposal of the Moldovan side all the experience and expertise accumulated in the training of the diplomatic corps.

The director of the Diplomatic Institute from Bulgaria gave a lecture for young diplomats of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, during which she referred to training programmes and goals of the institution she represents, professional training courses, etc.
