First ten new ambulances for Emergency Medical Assistance Service brought to Moldova - authorities

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - The first ten new ambulances out of the 69 ones, purchased for the Emergency Medical Assistance  Service, have been brought to Moldova and another 59 ambulances are to be supplied till late next May. The management of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry made statements to this effect today.         

According to the ministry, the ambulances will be distributed to 32 pre-hospital  first-aid posts, where the degree of the vehicles’ wear is more than 90 per cent, from the zones of central, northern, southern Moldova and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

The ambulances are produced in Russia and meet all international standards in the field and the medical apparatus will allow providing emergency medical assistance at the highest level.

In 2018, the government earmarked 273 million lei for the procurement of another 168 ambulances: 35 ambulances for intensive therapy and 133 first-aid ones. According to authorities, once the park of emergency medical assistance ambulances renewed, the capacity of intervention of the Emergency Medical Assistance Service, as well as the quality and quickness of the medical services provided to patients will be enhanced.  

Statistics data shows that the National Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Centre provides emergency medical assistance services to the 3,550,852 residents of Moldova free of charge and 24 hours. In 2017, the service provided emergency assistance to about 868,411 sick people.
