Moldovan premier intends having clarity talking upon fuel prices

Chisinau, 05 June /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of the meeting of Cabinet of Ministers today, Prime Minister has referred to topic of fuel prices. Premier said that government does not influence the work of independent institutions, despite speculation in society, but pointed out that it is needed greater clarity as regards the formation of oil prices. "We want to discuss issue and make it clear when it comes to fixing prices for fuel and electricity," said Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Prime Minister stressed that there has been legal framework and necessary methodology in it, but greater transparency is needed in their application. "These methodologies must be so clear that these calculations can be made by every citizen having access to respective figures at price of oil at exchange rate, so as not to leave a margin of interpretation", said PM.
In this regard, the Prime Minister asked Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) to analise legal framework and, if needed, to change it, as to intervene.
Pavel Filip also referred to case of punishing a driver for sticking a sticker on the windscreen against increase of fuel prices. The Prime Minister asked Ministry of Interior Affairs (MAI) to examine this case in detail.
"No one has prohibited freedom of expression in f Moldova, on contrary we adhere to new conventions and adjust legal framework. I ask to examine this case, how and why it happened and measures that have been taken," concluded PM.
