Russian poet celebrated in Moldova capital, after over two centuries from birth

Chisinau, 06 June /MOLDPRES/ – More people of culture, state officials and admirers have paid tribute today in Chisinau municipality to Russian poet Alexandr Pushkin, on occasion of the 219th anniversary from birth of writer.
The event was also attended by President Igor Dodon, which laid flowers at bust of Alexander Pushkin from Central Public Garden in Chisinau municipality.
Interviewed by journalists, Head of State has said everything related to Russian culture had a rather large influence upon culture of Moldova at that time. "That is why some persons whether want to admit it or not, we have some common stages of history and culture and we should be proud of it," said Igor Dodon.
According to official, "In 1820 – 1823, Pushkin was a guest on Moldovan land and wrote here a number of well – known works such as "The Caucasus Prisoner" and "The Fountain of Bahcisarai", but he also began to write his most famous work – poem "Evgheni Oneghin".
Born 06 June 1799 in Moscow, Alexandr Pushkin was a Russian classic poet and playwright, considered to be greatest Russian poet and founder of modern Russian literature. Puskin was initiator of using local dialect in his poems and plays, creating his own style of blending narrative with theatre, idyll and satire – associated with Russian literature and largely influencing Russian writers. He died on 10 February 1837.
