Moldovan foreign minister pays working visit to Anenii Noi district

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/- The outbreak of swine fever detected in Anenii Noi district and the measures taken by central and local authorities, as well as the problems of road infrastructure, attracting investments, shortage of skilled labor, social and economic development of the localities were the main topics discussed by Foreign and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and mayors of localities, heads of deconcentrated services and district counselors during the working visit to this territorial-administrative unit.

According to the MAEIE’s press service, the participants analyzed the measures taken to locate the outbreak of swine fever and to eliminate its consequences, as well as steps to prevent its spread, interaction between state institutions, citizens and businesses, etc. According to the reports of the representatives of the relevant institutions, the situation is under control, being given all the existing potential for the eradication of the outbreak.

Ulianovschi made a review of the main country development programs implemented by the Government and presented the strategic goals for the next period, referring in particular to projects for rehabilitation or construction of roads in rural areas, development of their infrastructure etc. Referring to the shortage of skilled labor, Ulianovschi spoke about the measures taken by the authorities to reform the educational system in the country, to strengthen the educational institutions, which prepare skilled workers for different sectors of the national economy.

The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the most effective use of diaspora potential and relations with twinned localities in other countries in attracting investments, initiating collaborative projects and socio-economic development of villages and towns in Anenii Noi district. In this context, Ulianovschii urged mayors, heads of deconcentrated services, economic agents to be more active in identifying and promoting projects with socio-economic impact, reiterating the willingness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration through diplomatic missions to promote them, by identifying potential partners.

Given the location of several settlements in the district along the Dniester River, as well as high temperatures, which cause fires or other crisis situations, the local officials asked the central authorities support in renovating rescue/fire stations with modern equipment for performing operative and efficient interventions if necessary.
