Block – of – flats in Moldovan capital affected by explosion to be expertised technically

Chisinau, 07 October /MOLDPRES/ – A working group, created by decision of the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, will perform technical expertise of block – of – flats in Chisinau, where a deflagration occurred on 06 October evening.  

The working group will be made up of several specialists which will examine the impact of the deflagration on the technical condition and the possibility of further exploitation of the affected dwelling block. The decision was taken following a meeting convened by Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, attended by representatives of the Technical Supervision Agency (AST), electricity supplier, Termoelectrica and construction managers within Chisinau city hall, and Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI).

The MEI announced that following the work, the working group will present two papers on the gravity of the case, deterioration of the bearing elements, possibility of further exploitation and undertaking of emergency measures to avoid degradation of construction.

"It is very important to understand in the shortest time if the flat left intact are not in danger of collapsing and can be exploited. If the affected floors can be isolated, the electricity and heat supply needs to be resumed as soon as the heating season starts," said Chiril Gaburici.

Also, a working group responsible for analising the situation in the field of supply and use of liquefied petroleum gas was created as a matter of urgency. The group, consisting of representatives of MEI, AST, ANRE will have the task of identifying issues in supplying and using liquefied petroleum gas and proposing to adjust the regulatory framework.

Following the tragedy, municipal authorities have announced that in the coming period, sector prices and housing fund managers will check housing blocks where gas tanks are used.

Three persons died and more were traumatised after an explosion occurred on 06 October evening in a residential building in Rascani sector of Chisinau municipality. The government has announced that it will allocate MDL 50,000 to families of deceased.
