Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Mihai Eminescu National Theatre and the Targu Mures National Theatre (Liviu Rebreanu Company) will present the premiere of a play titled, Miss Liberty – The Last Madrigal, by Mircea M. Ionescu, stage management by Elemer Kincses (Romania).

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, Petru Hadarca, said that ten actors from the two theatres played in the play, of whom six from Targu Mures and four from Chisinau.

”This is the first project organized in Chisinau and is dedicated to the Union Centenary. The play was made within the project titled, Romanian-Bessarabian Theatre Festival 10x10, the idea of which came to us during the Meeting of Romanian National Theatres. The play presents us tales of ten persons who meet at the edge of the Queensboro Bridge in New York – a tough reality of migrants left to look for a better life,” Hadarca said.

According to the director, this project represents a special experience, in which actors with various theatre schools are involved and will continue with other theatrical institutions from Romania.

For her part, the literary secretary of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, theatre critic Larisa Turea said that the play tackled problems of the migration. “This is a small picture of the contemporary society, as representatives of more nations meet under this bridge, who became victims of illusions that it would be better where we  do not live. Yet, the situation remains the same: you change the country and also change the problems,” Turea noted.

Stage manager Elemer Kincses from Targu Mures said that the actors of the play were gifted and friendly people, who created a team from the first moments. “What united them is talent and kindness. The message of the play is quite up-to-date. It is very difficult for one to remain a man in this harsh struggle for survival,” Elemer Kincses stressed.

The access to the play’s premiere is free, within the limit of the places available.
