Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/- The law on the General Carabineer Inspectorate entered into force today, with the publication of the document in the Official Journal of Moldova.
The decree promulgating the document was signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, after President Igor Dodon was suspended from office, as he refused to promulgate the document repeatedly voted by parliament.
The law sets out the legal framework and the principles of activity, organization and functioning, duties and powers of the General Carabineer Inspectorate, financing and technical-material insurance and the status of carabineer.
According to the document, the General Carabineer Inspectorate is a specialized state authority with military status, subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which aims at ensuring and restoring public order, preventing and discovering offenses and contraventions, protecting objectives etc.
Also, until 31 December 2020, the General Carabineer Inspectorate will gradually undertake the military service on a contract basis.
