Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - More bridges form all over Moldova will be repaired in 2019. The authorities gave assurances that the state of bridges in Moldova was satisfactory and there were no reasons for concern; yet, interventions are needed for their rehabilitation.

The head of directorate at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Radu Rogovei, has said at a TV programme that interventions at about 30 bridges would be carried out in 2019.  Some of them will undergo capital repair, the others will be only partially repaired and another ones will be subjected to technical expertise. At the same time, about 5-7 bridges are annually repaired with budget resources and more than 85 bridges have been restored since 2007 so far.

Rogovei noted that specialists annually carried out visual examination of the entire network of roads, including bridges and if defects are discovered, a technical expertise is carried out. Based on this expertise, a decision is taken on the works due to be carried out. The official gave assurances that the state of bridges from Moldova was satisfactory; there are no reasons for panic, although they need interventions.

A deputy head of department at the Chisinau city hall, Oleg Caraman, confirmed the same thing, while referring to the state of bridges from Moldova’s capital. According to Caraman, the bridge on the Mihai Viteazul Street from Chisinau will be repaired as a priority in 2019. At the same time, the technical expertise for the bridge on the Ismail Street – the oldest one from the Moldovan capital, will be ready in next April.

There are more than 850 bridges on the national roads from Moldova, with a total length of more than 20 km.

Last summer, a road bridge collapsed in Italy, in the wake of which at least 38 people died.
