Police in capital conducted checks at several taxi companies

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/- Employees of the road transport and traffic control department of the Chisinau Police Directorate conducted checks yesterday at terminus stations of some taxi companies to assess the technical condition of transport units.

The press officer of the Chisinau Police, Natalia Stati, said the checks were meant to make drivers and route managers more responsible. The police checked 35 taxi cars. As a result, they found several violations, such as: cracks in windscreen, defects in lighting system, lack of necessary equipment, registration numbers that do not meet the standards, unauthorized gas reuse.

Following the raids, the police issued six reports for non-compliance of technical rules and imposed fines.

A company mechanic was fined by 3,000 lei for entry into service of vehicles which technical condition does not comply with the rules. Also, the law enforcers have raised more license plates and have not allowed the exit of three transport units.
