Moldovan composer celebrates 60th anniversary

Chisinau, 07 April /MOLDPRES/ – The well – known composer Marian Stârcea, People's Artist, artistic director of the National Philharmonic Sergei Lunchevici, celebrated 60th anniversary.

Asked by agency, Marian Starcea has mentioned that he usually celebrates his birthday with his family, along with his dear ones. "I am glad that this year I was able to write a vocal – symphonic poem, more songs of love, choral works and theatre music," said the composer.

He was born in 1959 in Chisinau, in the family of composer Alexei Starcea. He graduated the Music School Eugen Coca, piano specialty. In 1977 – 1982, he studied at the State Institute of the Arts (piano) and in 1988 graduated from the State Conservatory G. Musicescu (composition). He attended post – graduate studies at the State Conservatory P. I. Tchaikovsky in Moscow, composition specialty. In 1992 – 1993, he studied modern music at the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, Israel.

Marian Starcea is a lecturer at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (chair of the Music and Composition Theory), music director at the Eugene Ionesco Theatre in Chisinau, member of the Board of Directors at the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova, chairman of the Municipal Commission for the award of Youth awards in the field of Art and Literature. Currently, he works as artistic director at the National Philharmonic S. Lunchevici.  

The music of the composer has been performed in Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Hungary, Sweden, France, Mongolia, Turkey, Israel, Japan and Malta. In 1999, composer Marian Starcea was awarded the honorary title: Master in Art, and Artist of the People – in 2010.
