Over 3,500 parents submitted online applications for enrollment of children in first grade

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/- More than 3,500 parents from the capital have applied for enrolment of children in first grade through escoala.chisinau.md platform, within the first five days of its launch.

Of the total number of applications submitted, about 1,100 have already been accepted.

The head of the department for education, culture, youth and sport of Chisinau city hall, Rodica Gutu, said that the first stage of enrollment for first grade children was launched on 1 April and will end on 13 June. The second stage will take place between 17 - 28 June and 1 - 30 August. The final list will be made public on 30 August.

Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said that within five days of launch of platform, 50 per cent of children in the municipality had been enrolled. He also said that there are institutions where the number of applications submitted far exceeds the possibility of enrolling children.

"We need to have a discussion with the Ministry of Education to see what we do with the children born on September 3 or 5, as they cannot be enrolled in the first round. I want to make a request to the ministry to modify the methodology, so that children born before November 31 may be enrolled ", he said.

At the beginning of the school year 2018 – 2019, 145 primary and secondary education institutions were operating in the capital.
