Moldovan – Romanian border's joint patrolling starts on 05 June

Chisinau, 05 June /MOLDPRES/ – Commencing today, the Moldovan and Romanian border authorities have started implementing the provisions of the Protocol on establishment and activities of joint patrol teams at the common state border (FSC).

According to the Moldovan Border Police's (PFM) information and media communication service, the joint patrolling process will be carried out according to the scheme as follows: a border police officer from Moldova will participate in the border patrol on the Romanian territory and vice versa, and the border surveillance is carried out under the state law on the territory of which it operates.

The common patrolling of the Moldovan – Romanian border takes place on a depth of up to 10 km inside both states. By way of exception, territorial applicability may extend beyond the area of ​​operation due to available land and road infrastructure or for immediate and urgent action being taken in the area of ​​operation but without exceeding the areas of competence provided for in national legislation for authorities responsible for border surveillance.

The protocol on establishment and activities of joint patrol teams at FSC was signed in November 2018 in Bucharest. The cooperation document contains regulations on competent authorities, how to set up, deploy and operate joint patrols and where they will function. Also, as of 2011, on the basis of the cooperation plans concluded between the border authorities of Moldova and Romania, there has taken place coordinated patrol at the Moldovan – Romanian border on the Prut river.
