Forty nine settlements from southern Moldova disconnected from power supply in the wake of rains

Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of forty nine settlements from five districts of southern Moldova remain disconnected from power supply in the wake of the rains, according to operative data collected by the territorial subdivisions of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today by 10:30.   

The Inspectorate said that, following the bad weather recorded in south Moldova on 3 July afternoon, IGSU employees had been asked to intervene in more than 30 risky situations. Electricity and telecommunication lines were partially damaged in the Basarabeasca district, after more trees had fallen down. Firemen removed three trees, one of which fell on a gas pipeline in the Iserlia settlement, Basarabeasca district. Such an intervention also took place in the Comrat city, where four trees blocked the area of the district hospital. Firemen cut a tree which partially blocked the road M3 in the Ciucur-Mingir village, Cimislia district.      

The roofs of two apartment blocks and four houses were hit in the Comrat municipality. The roofs of over 30 houses, as well as of a children’s camp were deteriorated in the Chirsova settlement. Ten slates were pulled up from the roof of the lyceum from the Basarabeasca town and more than 120 slates – from the roof of the lyceum and community centre of the Sadaclia village, the same district.   

At the same time, the strong wind deteriorated the roof of the club from the Saiti village, south-eastern Causeni district, with 50 roof slates pulled up, and in the Tocuz settlement, the metal tile roof of about 200 square metres of a kindergarten was partially damaged. 

The district commissions for emergency situations work on the spot to estimate the damaged recorded.
