Lack of social-political cohesion in Moldova is due to politicians - presidential adviser says

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- The presidential adviser on education, culture and research, Corneliu Popovici, said in an interview with MOLDPRES that the lack of social and political cohesion in the Republic of Moldova is due to politicians.

According to the adviser, the politicians are the ones who have fragmented the Moldovan society."In their desire to stay in power or to reach it, politicians have used messages that, based on historical-linguistic principles, have split Moldovan society. Some of them have speculated on the unionist aspirations of a part of the population," Popovici said.

He said that although there will be no total cohesion in the society, because this is only the case in totalitarian societies, the state needs the existence of a critical mass of citizens who are aware of the need for Moldovan patriotism. "Politicians who split society should be taxed in the polling booth," he says.

Popovici added that the unification of society should be the common work of all. He noted that the education system in the Republic of Moldova does not educate a citizen loyal to the Moldovan state and that the lack of patriotism is still a contributing factor to the depopulation of the territory between Prut and Dniester. "An education system based on patriotism should be developed," he concluded.
