Agricultural education forum held at FARMER International Exhibition

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/- Several students from 12 agricultural education institutions from the Republic of Moldova, together with representatives of the private sector - potential employers and business partners, teachers, gathered in the agro-industrial week, held on 16-19 October at Moldexpo centre at a forum dedicated to agricultural education in the country.

The participants discussed the educational offers and achievements of the vocational education institutions in the country. Students spoke about the advantages of specialties they study, the challenges during the studies. Also, the participants benefited from master classes, learned about the success stories of some business people in agriculture, establishing contacts with those who in the future could employ them or become business partners.

"It is very important to improve the educational offer, so that what we learn is understood, practicable and used in business in the field, and the domestic agricultural product can be placed on European markets. In this respect, we must know the strategic goals of the European Union, relevant educational activities in the sector: to encourage the transfer of knowledge and innovation in agriculture, forestry and rural areas; to increase the viability and compatibility of all branches of agriculture; to promote the efficient use of resources and to support the transition to a low carbon economy adapted to climate change in the agricultural, food and forestry sectors. These goals I want to see in terms of your specialization and subjects you study ”, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Georgeta Mincu said.

The official noted “In the school curricula of profile it is necessary to promote Strategies of product development for export, as well as to ensure the processes of environmental protection ”. "We need to restore, maintain and develop ecosystems related to agriculture, forestry, because all processes in the agricultural sector must ensure environmental protection. However, the most important thing is that all these promote social inclusion, poverty reduction and development of rural areas ”, the official said.

The forum took place within the FARMER exhibition and was organized by the Pro Didactica Educational Center and the International Association Donau Soja (Austria) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, with the support of the European Union project Development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova (DevRAM).

Companies from 20 countries take part in the agro-industrial week at Moldexpo on 16-19 October. It brings together the international specialized exhibition of machines, equipment and technologies MOLDAGROTECH (autumn) and the international exhibition-fair specialized in FARMER products, machinery, agricultural technologies and crafts.
