Superior Council of Prosecutors postponed changing law on selecting candidate for position of prosecutor general

Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/- The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) postponed to a later examination of the draft amending institutional normative framework for selection of a candidate for the position of Prosecutor General.
According to CSP members, there is for the moment an uncertainty on this subject, after the draft has been amended by assuming responsibility of the executive. "At the next meeting we will know what changes we are working on. We cannot adopt a regulation to be contrary to the law, ” CSP president Angela Motuzoc said.
Also, CSP members announced a contest to fill the vacant positions of the prosecutor. Five prosecutors took the oath.
Earlier last week, Justice Minister Olesea Stamate canceled the results of the contest for the position of Prosecutor General. On the same day, the government approved by assuming responsibility new rules for selecting the prosecutor general. Subsequently, the PSRM faction filed a motion of censure against the Cabinet of Ministers. The document is to be examined in the following days.
