Over 1,000 smoke detectors to be set in homes of more families of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - More than 1,000 smoke detectors will be set in dwellings from the Falesti, Donduseni, Briceni, Telenesti, Cahul districts and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The detectors will be distributed within a campaign titled, A house protected, a life rescued, launched by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today.
The detection devices will be set in the home of people with many children, bed-ridden persons, as well in homes of elderly people.
The campaign was started in the Moldovan capital nearby a dwelling hit by fire. Subsequently, teams of firemen and rescuers went to more private households to set smoke detectors, which are to prevent fires and intoxications with carbon monoxide.
The state secretary at the Interior Ministry, Ianus Erhan, has said that people can benefit from safety through such actions carried out by rescuers and firemen.
In the previous years, 7,094 smoke detectors were set in the homes of 6,669 families from 313 villages. According to IGSU, the installations gave alarms in six cases of fires, thus managing to rescue the people from these dwellings.
