Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/- Several car races will be suspended on 11 December, due to a new protest announced by carriers. They are dissatisfied with the way of examining their request to increase the tariff for transport services.

A press release by the Employers Association of Car Transport Operators (APOTA) states that about 1500 transport units will attend strike.

Earlier last week, APOTA announced that there was a round of talks in three meetings on increase of the tariff for the regular passenger transport, after which several measures were identified that would allow to reduce the costs of transport operators, including the exclusion of the abusive controls, transparency of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and the National Agency of Road Transport, combating illegal transport. As a result, APOTA informed that a draft Memorandum of Understanding was set up, the signature of which could cause the transport operators to reduce the requirement regarding the tariff increase from 0.92 lei per km to 0.74-0.76 lei per km. However, the memorandum has not yet been signed.

The Ministry of Economy has not yet come up with a reaction on carriers’ intention to protest again in the capital. They have previously carried out similar actions.
