Upcoming week commences by rainfalls in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ – The upcoming week starts with rainfalls, throughout Moldova, with high temperatures for this period, even if the winter solstice produced in the morning of Sunday, 22 December, signifies the beginning of the astronomical winter, and before it is expected the snowfalls prior the holidays, the SHS’s information and media communication service has reported.

According to meteorologists, on Monday, 23 December, it will keep the thermal values ​​of the weekend, between 08ºC – 13ºC, day, and 03ºC – 08ºC degrees at night. As of Tuesday, December 24, the mercury of thermometers will drop by a few degrees, but it will remain in the space of positive indications.

The rainfalls from the beginning of the week will have continuity in the north of Moldova and isolated in the central region, being sometimes accompanied by blizzard.

Sources from SHS estimated that the stable passage of the average daily temperature through the value of 0ºC in the direction of decrease (early winter weather) is generally recorded in Ist decade of the month and in IInd decade – in the south of Moldova: It has been years, with a mild and warm December, but experience shows that this does not mean that winter will not be corresponding to norms. Factologically, the season is just beginning and we shall still have some frost and snow.”

During the observation period of the State Hydrometeorological Service, the lowest temperature of the month was recorded on 28 December in 1996, in Balti, with – 30.2ºC. Accordingly, the highest thermal value was noted at Ceadar – Lunga, on 05 December 2008, where it was +18.9ºC.
