Chisinau, 9 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) today informed that the spring issue of the international exhibition MOLDAGROTECH, scheduled for 11-14 March, had been cancelled, given the situation triggered by the spread of the new-type coronavirus COVID-19.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee in charge of organizing the event, in the context when the exhibition implies the presence of more than 1,000 people at the event. “In these conditions, measures for preventing the spread of viruses are needed, including for the prevention and control of the infection with COVID-19 on the country’s territory,” MADRM sources said.

”We apologize to the companies and economic agents who have confirmed their participation in the exhibition. We are sorry for having to take such a decision; yet, the health and life of the people is much dearer than any public event. In order to prevent the spread of the respiratory infections, including to reduce the risks of spread of infection through coronavirus on the country’s territory, the spring issue of the MOLDAGROTECH exhibition is cancelled,” competent minister Ion Perju said at the meeting of the working group.

According to the organizers, about 17,000 visitors participated in the last issue of the exhibition.

More than 100 companies of modern equipments and technologies for agriculture from nine countries: Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Romania, Ukraine, Hungary and Moldova, were scheduled to participate in the event due this week.
