Moldovan legislative body hosts visitors in online regime on parliament's day

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova marks the 29th anniversary of its transformation from the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic (RSSM) into Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Soviet becomes the first Parliament of Moldova on 23 May. On this occasion, all interested people can visit the institution online.  Virtual tours of the parliament building are launched on the official pages of the legislative body on social networks, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.     
 
Today morning, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii addressed a message on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Moldovan parliament’s foundation, which reads that Moldova has covered a difficult way in these years, full of challenges and transformations. ‘’Yet, the role of the lawmaker remains constant at any times and anywhere – the one of representing the voter, who gave him/her the mandate,’’ the speaker stressed.  
 
According to the parliament speaker, the people entrusted their vote the MPs and with good reason, they expect them to change their lives for the better. ‘’To justify these expectations, there is no other way but to adopt laws – in the fields of economic development, social protection and health, education and human rights, other important sectors. Only in this way, we can improve the image of the parliamentary institution in Moldova and the most important thing is to take care of people,’’ Zinaida Greceanii said.

The heads of the parliamentary factions and groups addressed online congratulatory messages as well.
 
During the day, people can watch virtual tours in 360° of the Parliament’s Museum, Europe Hall, plenary session hall and the hall for news conferences.    
 
The history of the legislative body and its work are reproduced in video graphics and photos from those 29 years. A contest of video messages titled, A Parliament – A Country!, and captivating quizzes were launched.  
 
The Parliament’s Day is marked on 23 May. On this day in 1991, under a decision by the RSSM Supreme Soviet of the 12th legislative period, set up following democratic elections, the Soviet Union republic RSSM turned into Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Soviet became the first parliament of Moldova.
