Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii conveyed a message today on the International Human Rights Day, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The message reads:

"72 years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted - a document qualified as a common ideal to which peoples should aspire.

Moldova joined the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on July 28, 1990, shortly after the adoption of the Declaration of Sovereignty. In this way, the young state showed to citizens and the international community that human rights are a priority for it.

Almost 30 years after Moldova's accession to the Declaration, I would like to thank all partners involved in promoting human rights in our country. This partnership has taught us to create a system for the protection of human rights based on the best traditions and principles of the UN. At the same time, he encourages us to be even more persevering in our common plea for human dignity.

We continue to rely on this alliance in the name of human rights and freedoms. The close interaction between all social actors, between the states of the world is very important to come up with effective responses to new threats, such as climate change, the digital revolution and, of course, the pandemic. On behalf of the Moldovan parliament, I express my full commitment to use all opportunities and tools so that any citizen, regardless of ethnicity, religion, social status or age be protected and satisfied in our country."
