School Olympics postponed indefinitely

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/- The school Olympics scheduled for 2021-2022 academic year have been postponed indefinitely, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) has reported.

The statement on organization of the school olympiads was made yesterday by the MECC representatives at a meeting with the teachers and managers of education from three districts in the north of the country. The leadership of the ministry said "their conduct was postponed until the epidemiological situation in the country will allow it".

The school Olympics were canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the latest data of the relevant ministry, a general education institution and 140 classes in the country are working remotely due to quarantine. The number of students tested positive with COVID-19 is 194, and 2710 students were placed under self-isolation.

In the last 24 hours, 982 new cases of coronavirus are recorded in the country.
