Moldovan acting PM has meeting with OSCE chairwoman-in-office

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting, in enlarged format, with OSCE Chairwoman-in-office, Foreign Affairs Minister of Sweden Ann Linde, on an official visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

At the meeting, the sides assessed the present situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and discussed the current prospects to advance in this process. In the context, the acting PM welcomed the official’s visit to Chisinau, voicing confidence that it would boost the process of negotiations.    

Aureliu Ciocoi highlighted the Moldovan cabinet’s interest in continuing the activities on the ‘’three baskets’’ of the agenda agreed upon in the negotiating process, which regard, in particular, economic aspects and starting works on the ‘’third basket’’, with emphasis on identifying political solutions. ‘’We want the starting of dialogue on political and security subjects, with the identification of the comprehensive solution. We must start the negotiations on a new political finality in the Transnistrian settlement process. In this respect, Moldova fully relies on the OSCE’s support,’’ the acting prime minister said.    

For her part, Ann Linde confirmed the OSCE’s determination to contribute to the settlement of the Transnistrian problem, having as priorities: ensuring the human rights, the rule of law state, as well as strengthening the security on the left bank of Dniester.  

At the same time, the sides also tackled aspects on the activity of the EU’s Eastern Partnership (EaP), with Sweden being an initiator country of the EaP format. The officials agreed on fostering the bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Sweden, which provided a support worth 10 million euros to Moldova this year.  

During her visit to Moldova, OSCE Chairwoman-in-Office Ann Linde has scheduled meetings with President Maia Sandu, as well as Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii. Also, Ann Linde will move to the Transnistrian region of Moldova.
